Serval Cats Are Highly Intelligent Animals That Require Lots of Attention. They’re Curious and love to Explore!
Serval cats are carnivores that need a diet rich in protein which they may get from hunting small mammals, birds, insects and reptiles. They also require access to water as well as exposure to ultraviolet light from outdoors for vitamin D absorption.
These are not domesticated animals, so you can’t feed them the way you would your average housecat. An experienced caretaker MUST be included in planning your Serval’s diet.
If you want to take care of a serval cat, here are some tips for you:
– Try to mimic the serval cat’s natural environment – don’t try to force them to have a domesticated life.
1) Keep the serval cat in an enclosure with indoor and outdoor space.
2) Provide lots of climbing opportunities for the serval cat around the house and in its enclosure.
3) Give it plenty of hiding places like tree trunks or bushes where it can sleep during day time.
